Integrate Wisepill Smart Pillboxes and medication-adherence information with your own applications and processes.

Integrate Wisepill with your systems

The Wisepill API allows clients to integrate Wisepill pill dispensers and Smart Pillboxes with their own applications and processes.

The API provides functionality to:

  1. View, manage and configure Smart Pillbox settings and information.
  2. View Smart Pillbox events such as openings, battery level and signal strength.
  3. Create treatment episodes and view medication intakes per person per day using the adherence string, which can be used to visualise medication intakes in your own system.
  4. View key adherence information, including the last opening date or last-seen date of a Smart Pillbox, to support triaging people on treatment within your own system.

The API web services can be used with all Smart Pillboxes procured through the Global Drug Facility (GDF).

Request credentials and sandbox access

A public Postman workspace contains all API functions and detailed documentation.

Open the Wisepill API Postman workspace.

Request your API username and key by emailing support@wisepill.com. After receiving your credentials, fork the public Wisepill API workspace into your personal Postman workspace and add the username and key to each function or as global variables.

Configure Smart Pillboxes for testing

The sandbox environment includes several preconfigured Smart Pillboxes. You can also add your own evriMED1000 devices:

  1. Request a configuration file for your Wisepill device from support@wisepill.com.
  2. Ensure the Smart Pillbox SIM card is active. Contact support if it still needs to be activated.
  3. Connect the Smart Pillbox to your computer or laptop using USB.
  4. Open the evriMED Caregiver application, available in the Knowledge Center, select Apply new config, and press OK when complete.
  5. Disconnect the Smart Pillbox from the computer or laptop.
  6. Open its lid for more than five seconds to generate an intake event. The Smart Pillbox may reboot. After a few minutes, find its IMEI using the findDevices function.
  7. Repeat steps 1–6 for each additional Smart Pillbox required in the API sandbox.
